This site is not affiliated with Xiaomi; this is an independent explanation.

According to most parts listings, the Redmi Note 11 battery model name for the Note 11S is BN5D, sold at 5000 mAh typical. The same code is shown for the plain Redmi Note 11 (4G) and the POCO M4 Pro 4G, so these three phones appear to share one battery. Xiaomi is the maker group, which covers both Redmi and POCO.

Be careful with the name, because "Note 11" covers several phones. The Note 11S, the Note 11S 5G, the Note 11 Pro and the Note 11 Pro Plus are different handsets, and a pack is not safe to order by the words Note 11 alone. Go by the BN5D print on your cell and the Note 11S model number, as shown below.

Step by step

  1. Read the exact phone name and model number

Open Settings, tap About phone and note the device name and the model number. If you cannot find it, type model in the Settings search bar. The same number is on the retail box.

  2. Rule out the 5G and Pro phones

Check that the name says Note 11S and nothing after it, and that the phone is a 4G model. A 5G or Pro name means you should not use the BN5D page for it.

  3. Ask for the cell label to be read

Only a technician should open a sealed phone. Once the back is off, the label on the cell shows BN5D along with capacity and voltage. Ask for a clear photo.

  4. Compare the new pack before fitting

Put the new pack beside the old one. The code, the connector shape, the size and the weight should all look the same.

Redmi Note 11 battery model name: BN5D and the phones that share it

BN marks a Xiaomi cell, and the full BN5D code is what a seller or technician needs to hear. For the Redmi Note 11S, most listings use BN5D. The same listings give it for the Redmi Note 11 4G and the POCO M4 Pro 4G, so a shared pack is believable. A few listings add the Redmi Note 12S, but that is unconfirmed, so it is not in the BN5D phone list.

Note 11, Note 11S, 5G and Pro: which one do you hold

People search "note 11 battery model" and land on a pack meant for another phone. The Note 11 and Note 11S in 4G form are the pair that listings put together. The Note 11S 5G uses a different chip and was sold separately, and its cell code is not confirmed here. The Pro phones are a different class again, so never carry a code across from one of them.

The quickest test is the model number in About phone. Two phones with nearly the same name can have model numbers that differ in the last letters only, and that is what the box also shows. If you bought the phone second-hand, match the number to the box or ask the technician to read it from the phone.

One owner asked for a Note 11 battery, but Settings called the phone a Note 11S 5G. The shop had BN5D in stock and it looked right on the shelf. With the back off, the old label showed a different code, so the BN5D went back on the shelf.

How many mAh does the Note 11S battery have

Xiaomi markets the Note 11S at 5000 mAh typical, the BN5D figure. Many Xiaomi packs print a slightly lower minimum value, the rated capacity, on the cell label, so your pack may show a bit less than 5000. Read BN5D's rated value from your own cell rather than a seller's claim.

To convert to watt hours, multiply mAh by the voltage printed on the label and divide by 1000. For example, a label showing 3.9 V would give 5000 x 3.9 / 1000, which is 19.5 Wh. The voltage here is only an example for the sum, because the exact value for BN5D is not confirmed on this page.

A Note 11S charge lasts according to its AMOLED screen, signal, brightness and apps, not BN5D alone. For more phones of this size, see our 5000 mAh roundup.

Where to find the code on the battery, box and Settings

The battery code is not shown on the home screen. BN5D is printed on the cell with capacity, voltage and batch marks, readable only once the back is off. On this phone the body is sealed, so that job belongs to a technician.

  • On the cell: the label with BN5D, which is the final word.
  • On the Note 11S box: phone name and model number. The BN5D code does not usually appear there.
  • In Settings: About phone gives the model number. Menu names shift between software versions, so type battery into the Settings search bar if the page is hard to find.

Do not go by dialler codes passed around in videos, since they do not work the same on every phone.

On the Note 11S, check apps and signal using our page on fast drain first, and let the battery health steps decide whether BN5D needs replacing.

Swelling, heat, leaking or a dent make BN5D a fire hazard. Unplug the Note 11S at once, do not press it flat, keep it from heat and take it to Xiaomi service. BN5D fakes often print inflated capacities, so fit BN5D and nothing else.

Buying and fitting a replacement for this phone

Tell the technician which phone it is, its model number and the code BN5D, and request a side by side look at the old cell before anything is fitted. A different 5000 mAh Xiaomi code may not share BN5D's plug or size.

A poor BN5D copy gives itself away in the hand:

  • It is noticeably lighter than the Note 11S's old cell.
  • Lettering on the BN5D smudges and there is no batch line.
  • It claims well past 5000 mAh, impossible for a Note 11S sized cell.

Our replacement walkthrough covers the whole job. Own the older Note 10S? Its cell has a separate Note 10S battery page.

Keep the old pack for a day after the swap so you can show the original code if the new one gives trouble.

Daily habits that keep a BN5D pack healthy

The Note 11S charges at 33 W and warms fast in a hot room, and heat harms BN5D more than cycles do. Set the Note 11S down on a cool, firm desk while charging, keep it off the bed, and peel away a heavy cover if it warms. Staying at full charge for hours each night also wears a cell faster.

Stick with the Note 11S's own 33 W brick and cable or a well made match, and discard a lead whose plug warms. For other Redmi packs and their codes, open the Redmi battery model list.

Frequently asked questions

What battery code does the Redmi Note 11S use?

Most listings give BN5D, at 5000 mAh typical. Since the phone is sealed, only the label on the old cell can settle it.

Does the Redmi Note 11 share the Note 11S battery?

For the 4G phones, listings give the same BN5D code for both. The Note 11S 5G and the Pro phones are different, so check the label.

What capacity is the BN5D in the Note 11S?

BN5D is listed at 5000 mAh typical. Your BN5D's rated figure may be slightly lower.

Does the POCO M4 Pro 4G use the same battery?

Listings show the same BN5D code for it. Check the old BN5D label first, because a single listing is not proof.

Will another code at the same mAh fit the Note 11S?

Do not count on it. Size and plug can differ at equal capacity, so match BN5D in full.

Should I swap the Note 11S battery myself?

The Note 11S back is glued and BN5D is stuck down, so leave it to a technician. Forcing it can bend the cell and cause a fire.
