Match the code on your old battery before you buy.

This site is not affiliated with Xiaomi; this is an independent explanation.

Xiaomi parts sellers attach the BN59 battery model name to the 4G Redmi Note 10 and to its sibling, the Redmi Note 10S. Both are sold with a 5000 mAh typical pack. Li-ion polymer is the usual cell type for this class of phone.

The word Note 10 is where buyers go wrong. The Redmi Note 10 Pro, the Redmi Note 10 5G and the Redmi Note 10T are different phones, and nothing here says they share this pack. Treat the Note 10 name as a second check after the code on your cell.

Step by step

  1. Find the exact phone name and model number

Open Settings, then About phone, and note the device name and model number. If you cannot see it, type model in the Settings search bar.

  2. Look for the word Pro, 5G or T in the name

A phone called only Note 10 or Note 10S is the one this page is about. If the name carries Pro, 5G or T, go to that phone's own page instead.

  3. Have the technician read the old sticker

Once the back panel is off, BN59 should appear on the cell label with the capacity and voltage. Take a clear photo of it before anything is removed.

  4. Compare the new pack with the old one

Put them side by side. The code, the overall size, the connector shape and the weight should all look alike.

  5. Check the print on the new pack

Good packs have sharp text and batch details. Blurry print or a capacity far above 5000 mAh is a reason to refuse it.

Which phones take the BN59 battery model name

Plenty of Xiaomi codes start BN; the letters identify Xiaomi and nothing more. Both are 5000 mAh class phones from the same family, so a shared pack is believable.

What 5000 mAh means for BN59 in a Note 10

BN59's 5000 mAh is Xiaomi's typical figure. No rated BN59 number is confirmed here.

Multiply out BN59's 5000 mAh and 3.87 V and the Note 10 carries close to 19.4 Wh. Should a Note 10S replacement print a lower voltage, it holds less energy than the original BN59.

If it shows another voltage, redo the sum with that value. A Note 10S pack at 3.85 V would hold slightly less, so check volts as well as mAh.

Daily run time is not decided by mAh alone. Screen brightness, refresh rate, mobile signal and heavy apps all change it. A phone on weak signal in a basement can drain faster than the same phone on strong signal at a window.

Confirm the code before you pay

Ordering by the Note 10 name alone often goes wrong. Redmi has launched many phones called Note 10, and listings are often written in a hurry. The safest order of checks is below.

  1. Note the model shown under About phone on the Note 10, or on its box.
  2. Get the old battery label read once the back is open. It should say BN59.
  3. Ask for the same code on the new pack, not just the same mAh.
  4. Compare the BN59 connector and outline with the replacement.

A customer brought a Redmi Note 10 Pro and asked for a Note 10 battery, because that was the name he had typed. The counter had a BN59 pack ready. The old sticker on the Pro showed a different code, so the pack stayed in the drawer and the correct one was ordered.

If your Note 10 sticker shows another code, look it up in the Xiaomi family index.

Codes that look close to BN59

Many Redmi codes share the letters BN and differ by one character. Faint print makes 5 and 6, or 9 and 0, hard to separate. Angle the BN59 sticker towards a lamp or zoom into a photo of it.

  • BN5A and BN5J each have their own phone list. Do not treat them as the same pack.
  • BN56 and BN5R belong to other Redmi phones. A pack of similar size does not mean a similar code.
  • Another phone in the Note 10 range may look the same from outside and still use a different cell.

A 5000 mAh Xiaomi pack with another code may be thicker or use a different plug, pressing on the Note 10's back cover.

Before blaming the pack, rule out apps and signal by reading the battery drains fast guide. Then use the battery health check steps to judge the pack itself.

A BN59 that bulges, heats strongly, leaks or dents may catch fire. Unplug the Note 10, do not press or bend it, keep it cool and take it to Xiaomi service. BN59 aftermarket packs often overstate mAh, so accept the exact code only.

Fitting a BN59 safely

Glue holds the Note 10 back in place, so let a trained hand lift it. Ask Xiaomi service or a trusted repairer for BN59 and give them the Note 10 model number.

When the new pack arrives, check it for these faults:

  • The replacement is obviously lighter than the Note 10's original.
  • The label has no batch details and the letters are smudged.
  • It claims well past 5000 mAh, which no Note 10 sized cell can manage.

Keep the old pack's photo with the order slip. If the new pack has a problem in the first weeks, the photo proves which code was fitted.

Our replacement walkthrough covers the fitting itself.

Everyday care for a 5000 mAh Note phone

Note 10 owners lean on video, maps and games, so the phone runs warm. Heat does more damage to the cell than most people think. Remove a thick case for long games, keep the Note 10 out of sun and off beds while charging, and unplug it once full.

The Note 10 and 10S came with a 33 W charger, the best match for BN59. A Note 10S that still shuts off early after you restart it and charge to full points to a BN59 that needs a meter on it.

Frequently asked questions

Which phone has the BN59 battery model name?

Sellers pair BN59 with the 4G Redmi Note 10 and the Note 10S, both at 5000 mAh typical. Check your old cell's sticker before ordering, since other Note 10 models use different cells.

Is BN59 the Redmi Note 10 battery model?

For the 4G Redmi Note 10, yes, according to listings. The Note 10 Pro, Note 10 5G and Note 10T are not confirmed as BN59 phones.

How many mAh is a BN59 battery?

It is sold as 5000 mAh typical. Your BN59 sticker may print a slightly lower rated value.

Is the Redmi Note 10S battery the same as the Note 10 Pro battery?

Do not assume so. The Note 10S is matched to BN59, and the Note 10 Pro has its own page and code. Compare against the old BN59 label.

Can I fit a pack with 5000 mAh but a different code?

It may not fit. Another code may mean another plug or size, so ask for BN59 exactly.

How can I tell a fake BN59 battery?

A fake BN59 is light, blurrily printed, missing batch details and overclaims capacity. Lay it next to the Note 10's original pack.
